WHAT’S IN STORE FOR STEP OUT 2012:
Calling all Red Striders!
If you have diabetes, you are a RED STRIDER.
We are in the works of improving and expanding our Red Strider network and would love to have you be a part of it! Participation in the Red Strider group is strongly encouraged for those interested in cooking classes, work-out sessions, walking clubs, and other fun activities during the year leading up to the Step Out in November.
All Red Striders will receive a free Red Strider hat on the day of the walk.
We are also looking for individuals interested in becoming a Red Strider Ambassador. Ambassadors will have the opportunity to share their story and speak at ADA events.
To sign up and be a part of the Red Strider network, please contact Katie McCoy at KMccoy@diabetes.org to receive the interest form.
Join our Dance for Diabetes Team
From the success of the Flash Mob for Diabetes from last year http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0W2pVZwfvbs, we have decided to start up a Dance for Diabetes Team! Whether you’re a dancer or just like to boogie down, all are invited to be a part of this new exercise dance program. Practice will begin a couple months before Step Out. As the days wind down and we get closer to the Walk, we will begin preparing for the routine which will be performed at the event. Please contact your local Step Out coordinator, Leslie Mantaring or Katie McCoy for more info.
New Routes & Start Times
Exciting news! We will be incorporating some new routes and start times for the walk & run. For those who want more of an option in distance, we are now opening the 5K and 3K routes to walkers and runners. We will be providing more information as routes are finalized, please stay tuned as the Walk progresses!
Get Involved & Join the Step Out Logistics Committee
