Camp Rainbow!

Camp Rainbow

Camp Rainbow was held June 24-27th at Circle lake retreat near Pinehurst , TX.  The 137 campers got to swim, canoe, fish, climb a rock wall , slide down waterslides and have an amazing “crocodile encounter”. A special thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers; from the medical staff to parents to the Junior League of Houston! The ADA’s camping program recognizes that children with diabetes sometimes  feel like nobody understands how they feel or know what it’s like to live every day with diabetes. At Camp, having diabetes is the norm, and campers get to meet and learn from other kids and adult counselors with diabetes. They can share strategies for coping with diabetes management and learn about their day-to-day triumphs and challenges. And importantly, they make new friends and develop their own lifelong support system.
