Meenakshi Patel, MD, FACP, MMM, CMD

Dr. Meenakshi Patel has been practicing medicine and geriatrics in the Dayton area for the last 25 years. She has served as the chair of the Department of Medicine at Miami Valley Hospital and is currently Director of Geriatrics at that institution. She is Associate Professor at Wright State University and teaches students and residents and fellows. She is the Medical Director at three large nursing facilities and also serves as an Associate Medical Director at the Hospice of Dayton. She also serves on the Board for the Alzheimer’s Association and is actively involved in clinical research in various disease states.
Dr. Patel is a graduate of Bombay University, Seth GS Medical School. She did her residency in Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine and has her Certification of added Qualifications in Geriatrics. She is a Certified Medical Director through AMDA, and has her Masters in Medical Management through Tulane University and ACPE.

Dr. Patel is the past president of the Ohio Medical Directors Association and had been the program chair for their annual meeting for two years in the past. She has been instrumental as treasurer of that organization in bringing it to a positive financial situation over the past few years.  She serves on several committees at AMDA and has participated in writing a couple of their guidelines. She has presented on several topics at a national level.
