November – National Diabetes Awareness Month

The month of November is dedicated to diabetes awareness throughout the nation. With almost 30 million children and adults in the United States diagnosed with diabetes this upcoming year, American Diabetes Association envisions “a life free of diabetes and all of its burdens”. Throughout our country, there are many events going on in which the community comes together to raise awareness for this disease that affects so many of our loved ones. In Houston, we will do our part by hosting Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes on Saturday, November 22, 2014. There will be two walks simultaneously going on that day; one in The Woodlands and one in Downtown Houston. Please visit this website for more information.

As we enter this month, ask yourself what you can do to contribute to ADA’s vision; whether it’s signing up to participate in the walk or simply educating yourself about diabetes. The first step to any cure is education!
