A team at Harvard University is working on harvesting stem cells to reproduce beta cells that are essential in controlling blood sugar levels. So far, animal testing has shown positive results; tests on mice showed that it could treat the disease. While this study is still in its pre-clinical phase, many people have acknowledged the study and are calling it a “game changer” in the race to a cure.
